Walk for life

Wandsworth NHS in partnership with Wandsworth Council has set up a series of walks led by trained instructors who are able to advise and guide you on building up your physical activity at a pace that suits you.

The walks are free of charge and you don’t need to book a place - just turn up at the times stated.

NOTE: During the winter the afternoon walk now starts at 3pm

Why walk?

Brisk walking is an excellent form of physically activity that can be slotted into your everyday activities. ‘Brisk’ walking means walking quickly enough so that you breathe a little Faster and perhaps feel warmer.

The current recommendation for physical activity is at least 30 minutes a day of moderate activity on at least five days of the week. You don’t have to do the 30 minutes all in one go; ten minutes, three times a day or fifteen minutes twice a day is just as good.

Getting started

Walks are every Tuesday, rain or shine, starting at 10:30am, meet by the red phone box by Albert Bridge entrance,
or 3pm, meet by Chelsea Bridge Gate entrance.

If you can't make Battersea Park there is probably another regular walk near you. You can a find the latest timetable of walks on the NHS Wandsworth website.
